Hello,
My name is Dennis Raymond, and I am the President of Liberty Discount Lawn Equipment, family-owned and operated for 25 years. My father, David Raymond, and my uncle, Vernon Eck, founded Liberty Discount in Eldersburg, Maryland. At that time, Liberty Discount specialized in appliance sales and service. We eventually moved to a larger location in Eldersburg and picked up several lines of lawn equipment.
In 1986 Liberty Discount purchased a second location in Upperco, Maryland. It was then that I joined the business. The Upperco store specialized in consumer lawn equipment, while the Eldersburg store continued its tremendous appliance volume. Eventually, we recognized a need in the Upperco community for a dealer who could satisfy the special needs of the commercial landscaper. Liberty Discount now services over 300 commercial landscapers in a 20 mile radius.
In 1993 we sold the Eldersburg store made major renovations to the Upperco store by adding a 30,000 square foot warehouse and a 20,000 square foot showroom. This expansion allowed us to showcase all lines of residential and commercial lawn equipment and improve our "on-the-floor, out-the-door" appliance ability. We greatly expanded our Parts Department. In addition to our already extensive stock of lawn equipment parts, we now carry a large inventory of popular appliance parts.
Along with the real estate expansion, Liberty Discount also upgraded and expanded its computer hardware and software. These computer improvements allow immediate access to inventory levels and customer sales histories; improved invoices and billing statements; and on-line parts look-up, pricing and ordering; all of which have improved cost effectiveness, time management and, most importantly, About Us.
Vernon Eck has since moved to Florida, where he occupies himself with real estate investments, and my father has retired and divides his time between homes in Florida, Ocean City, Maryland, and Upperco. However, you will find Dave on the sales floor at Liberty Discount during our hectic spring season.
Today, I act as General Manager of the store. We also have a Parts Manager, Sales Staff and a Service Staff. Our Parts Manager is a certified master technician and our lawn equipment service staff is annually certified by every manufacturer we sell. They have over 100 years combined experience in lawn equipment maintenance and repair. To compliments our sales and service, we offer pickup, delivery, installation, and haul-away.
